Our History

At The Disconnect, we are fighting to expose the negative sides of the internet and, in specific, social media. Our weekly updates cover everything from our modern “infodemic” to false body images, applying to those who use the internet and want to end our separation as a society. Our page is fighting not only for the rights of those objectified on the internet, but for the rights of everyone who has access to the web. Technology does not discriminate, this is why exposing the issues found online will only help make the web a safer and more enjoyable place. The internet has become an environment filled with both excitement and hate, love and political messages, false expectations and opportunity, but has it’s exposure gone too far? At The Disconnect, we are fighting to do the very thing that our blog is named after: disconnect. Disconnect from the hate, the false images, the discrimination. We are pushing for a new world, one that values every human equally and is honest with it’s content, and that begins with exposing our current media scene. It is time to start valuing human interaction over the internet, and every large change in society begins with a movement. Be a part of the movement, be a part of the disconnect.
